Five Minute Friday: Fall

~I will be back later today to finish up my series on #benchgirls and our God Sized Dream.~

Five Minute Friday with Lisa-Jo Baker and hundreds of others. We write for five minutes. All on the same prompt. No extreme editing. No worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
Five Minute Friday
This week’s prompt: fall.

Crisp, cool air. Cider. Blankets. Pumpkins. Apples. Doughnuts.
These are a few of my favorite fall things,
Let’s be honest for a moment. Doughnuts are always my favorite! Today is “National Doughnut Day.” Could there be a better day in the year?! Well, I am fond of my birthday. My birthday is in the fall. My birthday this year will be spent at Allume

It all happened so fast I’m still in a surreal state about going. Saturday, a few teasing emails and tweets between friends and one funny convention host. Sunday, talking with Brad. All week, a whole lot of praying!!! And then some more praying. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, more talking. Thursday, buying my ticket.
The thing that was there all week, God’s voice. Saturday during our online comments I was praying hard. God, do you want me to go. God, how do I even begin this conversation with Brad? God, how can this even happen? I didn’t say a word to Brad about my desire on Saturday. I just prayed and emailed a friend. I went into the bathroom several times to pull myself together because the thought was emotionally overwhelming. One time while pulling it together I heard God say, I can do this. I am enough. “Yes God, I know you can do this, but am I suppose to do this? Are you suppose to do this?”
And now I have a printed piece of paper saying, “You’re going to Allume conference 2013!” This birthday is going to rock! This fall is going to be amazing!

Don’t forget to stop back later for my final instalment on Meeting My Bench Girls: Our Dream.

Andi and Brad have been married since 2002. They have five squishers who keep them on their toes. She is a second generation home educator. In her spare time Andi creates and sells handmade goodies in her shop, Andi Gould Designs.

  1. Hi, Andy.
The Allume conference looks like great fun. I am glad you are going. I too share a birthday in October, the 22nd. In our 3 years in the US I always wanted to spent fall in Vermont, but it never worked out that way. Back home in South Africa, October is spring/summer. The purple jacaranda trees in full bloom. A lovely picture to behold and mu favorite month of the year, certainly the most beautify.
    Loved your "Fall" piece. Patricia

  2. I'm glad you kept the donut thing going over here, my friend!

  3. What a happy birthday present you get! Keep chasing those dreams down, girl!

  4. What a lovely gift for your birthday. Enjoy your fall birthday at Allume! Blessings.

  5. Ummm... WOOT you're going to Allume and WOOT!!! WOOT!!! God is good - so good friend. Glad you leaned in hard and sought Him in this process... and we're getting cake at Allume.
