The Kitchen, finished???

I'm sitting here waiting, oh there's the buzzer....

Okay I'm back. I was sitting here waiting for my washer to finish. I know, how lame must I be to sit around waiting for my laundry! The thing is the last time I did laundry, well I think the date was *insert embarrassed glance* in the early teens. With five people living in this Mad House I'm not sure how I was able to get away with giving my washer and dryer such a nice break. Well it's piled up nice and high for me today.

Why, you may ask, have I let the apparel pile so high: my kitchen.

Yes, that post is from three years ago. We finished that cabinet, added the cabinet, door and floor moldings, and I hung some pictures. But that was three years ago. Last month (maybe it was October, the  days blur together) Brad and I were talking about finishing the kitchen. Everything that is left is detail work, painting molding, under cabinet lights, crown molding, you know the usual details that are left for three years before you just do it. My parents were taking ALL three children for a sleepover Friday night. So Brad and I decided that Saturday morning would be a perfect time to finally start finishing the kitchen. (Thank you again Mom and Dad!!!! It was lovely to go out to dinner and come home to a quiet house.) Somewhat bright and early Saturday morning Brad and I started cutting and staining counter-top molding, hanging under cabinet lights and once again turning our kitchen into a work zone, I LOVE IT! Sunday we finished the counter-tops and lights. Monday I straightened all the cabinet doors and outlet covers. Yesterday I stripped the paint off the pocket doors (which means NO MORE yellow!!!! I'm still trying to figure out why people paint perfectly good wood doors...), and Brad primed the molding last night. Tonight he will paint the molding and my new shelf, an early Christmas gift from him! The crown molding will happen after Christmas, but this is one happy chicky over here waiting for my washer to finish.

Cleaning, cooking and baking to do tomorrow for our Christmas Eve family dinner, glad it will be in a work-free-zone!

Andi and Brad have been married since 2002. They have five squishers who keep them on their toes. She is a second generation home educator. In her spare time Andi creates and sells handmade goodies in her shop, Andi Gould Designs.
