Tell Me 'bout it Tuesday

Since Becca is out of the country and wasn't feeling well enough to get some posts up before she left I thought I would carry on Tell Me 'bout it Tuesday.

I came across Q and A Tuesday this morning over at SIMPLE mom. Today's question is "What Top 3 Essentials do you leave the house with your toddler?"

Oh boy.... this was hard! The question stated that diapers are exempt from the list of three. Most moms were adding their purse/wallet/phone/MP3 etc. Personally I think those should also be exempt! How can I possibly go anywhere without my purse/wallet/phone?! (About two weeks ago I left the house in a hurry to run to the store while B stayed home with the girls, and I forgot my phone!!!!!)

Anyway.

I like to keep it simple as it is, here is a picture of my diaper bag:

(I took the picture with the wipe box so you can "see" the size, it's actually a toiletry bag. All my diaper bags were too big!)

Here are the three things that I must have in the bag when I leave:

One fold-up toilet seat, two toys for Gypsy and one travel spray sanitizer (found at CVS).

(Gypsy was SO upset when I put her toys back in the bag and put the bag away!)

I know there are four things in the picture but those two toys are like one. Gypsy will not have one without the other. Bookworm is finally at an age that if we are going to a restaurant or doctor appointment I can find something for her to do with what is available at our destination.

After I took these three things out I realized the only other things I have in the bag are: diapers, NUK, name tags for our children's ministry at church and some simple first-aid stuff. So if you look at the fold-up toilet seat as Bookworm's equivalent to diapers I really don't leave the house with much "extra stuff." I guess it wasn't that hard after all!

So, "What 3 things must you have when going out with your toddler?"

  1. my 3 things!
i reached a point about a month ago, where i didn't want to carry a bag, i think because i knew the time was coming when i was going to have to again, filled with all sorts of stuff. so now we leave the house with 1 toy (maddy's choice, lately it has been her cinderella) a fruit snack, for when i get desperate in whatever store i am at, and a cup full of water or juice (which this is technically a necessity, so i don't know if it counts)

  2. ok, i'm lazy! i actually stated recently that if i could find a man's wallet that would hold my coupons, i would buy it. for errands all i take is my wallet. if we are going to be gone longer i take lorelai's sippy cup and a bib.
i often leave without any diapers, and to date this has only come back to haunt me once!
