Birth and Stuff

Since it's my birthday, I should be thinking about life and things but all I can think about is how great of a family and co-workers I have.

B made me pancakes and gave me a game that I have had my eye on for a while. It was so nice to wake up and have my wonderful husband do those nice things for me.

When I walked into work this morning my boss greeted me not as she usually does with a happy "Hello," but with an enthusiastic "Happy Birthday!" When I got up to my classroom I was greeted by a huge banner Liz, my assistant teacher, had made with the kids yesterday afternoon. After all the kids were at school I had to leave the classroom for a few minutes, and when I came back they sang Happy Birthday when I walked back in the classroom. The also had some gifts for me. Liz had been working on a book secretly last week with all the kids of them saying why they love me and they all drew a picture. One student gave me flowers and another gave me a leaf pin (it's very small above the B). For music and movement we did the Birthday Pokey," (like the Hokey Pokey) the kids had a blast.

At work we have birthday lunches for everyone's birthday. We had Mexican today, my favorite! It was sooooo good. Instead of sending a card around we send a book around and everyone writes their birthday wishes inside. My mom, sister and Little Bo Peep were able to come and enjoy my birthday lunch today.

My dad and my best friend from Texas both called me today and my mom and sister both gave me cards. I have had a wonderful birthday and it is only half enjoyed so far. I can't wait for my dinner (pizza and pigs in a blanket, and maybe even nachos and cheese) and Gilmore Girls tonight!
