New beginnings

Tonight Brad and I went to our new small group for the first time. It was so refreshing to talk and be intellectually spurred with old and new friends. We felt comfortable and it was great to share fresh ideas.

The group watched a video about noise. It challenged us to think about the noise in our lives and how much we don't stop to listen to God.

One thing we talked about was how our minds go a mile a second and wondering how to make them slow down to listen to God. This is something I have always struggled with in my life. If I try to slow down to relax I just think of ten other things I need to get done.

The video asked if we have a place of solitude. Can you imagine having a place in your home that had nothing to distract you?

When we came home and got out of the car Brad said to me, "The backyard is our place of solitude." We are so excited about having our own little retreat right in our back yard. Tom has been having his bible studies out there every morning this week. Brad and I have already had some great conversations out there with each other and with friends and family.

I think our backyard is a place I can go to and stop my mind for a while so I can begin to listen to God.

Maybe this is my place of solitude where I can become more intimate with God.

Andi and Brad have been married since 2002. They have five squishers who keep them on their toes. She is a second generation home educator. In her spare time Andi creates and sells handmade goodies in her shop, Andi Gould Designs.

  1. i'm glad you liked your small group. that noise video was really good and challenging...i'm still working on keeping the noise in my life down. your backyard is a great place...mine makes me think of everything that needs to be done!

  2. Great choice. Your yard calls you to sit and be quiet.

Thank you for stopping by today. I love hearing from you. Leave a comment and we can chat more!
